The F-89 Scorpion was the United States Air Force's first two-seat all-weather fighter aircraft.
It was also the most heavily armed fighter aircraft ever built. In 1950, the F-89D series appeared with extensive modifications. A combined fuel/missile canister at the wing tip could hold 1165 liters of fuel and 52 FFAR missiles. The next major series was the F-89J.
