The Bf 109 played an important role in all operations during World War II. The prototype flew for the first time on May 28, 1935. The single-seat fighter had a DB 605 engine with a maximum of 1,435 hp and a top speed of 594 km/h at an altitude of 7,400 m. The total production number was around 35,000 pieces.
